7 things every small business homepage needs

A homepage has one job: help a stranger decide to contact you. These seven elements cover almost every small business.

1. A headline that says what you do

"Handwoven home textiles from Jaipur" tells people more than "Quality you can trust". Put what you do, for whom and where in the first line.

2. One clear button

Choose a single main action: call, WhatsApp, book or order. Repeat it in the header and the footer.

3. Your services or products

List them in plain words with a photo and a starting price where you can. Prices filter out the wrong enquiries and build trust with the right ones.

4. Real photos

Photos of your shop, your team and your work beat stock images. Compress them so the page stays fast.

5. Proof

A couple of customer quotes, a rating or a list of places you have worked. One real quote with a name is worth more than five vague ones.

6. Location and hours

Address, map, opening hours and phone number should be easy to find, especially on a phone.

7. Easy contact

A short form, a click-to-call number and a WhatsApp button. Say how fast you reply.

If a visitor can only read your headings, they should still understand your offer.

Keep it fast and simple

Use two fonts at most, avoid auto-playing video and test the page on a real phone. See how this looks in practice on our 12 sample websites, each with a full set of pages.
